BASIC I DEEP CLEANING
Gum disease is caused by a sticky film of bacteria called plaque. If teeth and gums are not cleaned well, the bacteria in plaque can cause gums to become inflamed. If untreated, gum disease could lead to bone and tooth loss. If gum disease is caught early, a professional cleaning should do. However, scaling and root planing (deep cleaning) may be needed if bone loss has occurred.
Composite resins, or tooth-colored fillings, provide good durability and resistance to fracture in small- to mid-size fillings that need to withstand moderate pressure from the constant stress of chewing. They are a good choice for people who prefer that their fillings look more natural.
Dental sealants act as a barrier to prevent cavities. They are usually applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth where decay occurs most often and also contain fluoride.
TOOTH COLORED CROWN I BRIDGE I VENEER
You may need a crown to cover a tooth to help restore it to its normal shape and size. A crown can make your tooth stronger and improve its appearance. Crowns help strengthen a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t enough tooth remaining to hold the filling. Crowns can also be used to attach bridges (replacing a missing tooth), protect a weak tooth from breaking or restore one that’s already broken. A crown is a good way to cover teeth that are discolored or badly shaped. It’s also used to cover a dental implant.
ROOT CANAL TREATMENT
Root canal treatment is necessary when the pulp (soft tissue inside your teeth containing blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue) becomes inflamed or diseased. During root canal treatment, your dentist removes the diseased pulp. The pulp chamber and root canal(s) of the tooth are then cleaned and sealed. Causes of an infected pulp could include: a deep cavity, a cracked or broken tooth, injury to the tooth.
An extraction means to have a tooth removed, usually because of disease, infection, fracture, trauma or crowding. Dental implants are recommended for replacing missing teeth. Other options are bridge or dentures.
DENTAL IMPLANT FOR MISSING TEETH
If you are sel-conscious because you have missing teeth, wear dentures that are uncomfortable or don’t want to have good tooth structure removed to make a bridge, dental implants are an option for you. Dental implants are a popular and effective way to replace missing teeth and are designed to blend in with your other teeth. They are an excellent long-term option for restoring your smile. Dental implants are made of titanium and other materials that are compatible with the human body. They are posts that are surgically placed in the upper or lower jaw, where they function as a sturdy anchor for replacement teeth.
Primary (Baby) teeth in children have relatively large pulp spaces and a cavity does not have to get very large before it reaches the pulp chamber. When the soft tissue in the pulp chamber is infected (has bacteria in it), it can be removed by a dentist. The process of removing the pulp from the chamber is the actual “pulpotomy.” To prevent future fracture, a stainless steel crown is placed over the tooth after the pulptomy.
STAINLESS STEEL CROWN
The nickel chrome crown – commonly called the stainless steel crown- is a successful restoration for large cavities in primary (baby) teeth. It proves protection to the remaining tooth structure that has been rendered weak and brittle after pulp therapy.
Dentures are removable appliances that can replace missing teeth and help restore your smile. If you’ve lost all of your natural teeth, whether from gum disease, tooth decay or injury, replacing missing teeth will benefit your appearance and your health. In some cases, you may need all teeth removed and have a compete denture. In other cases, when only a few teeth are missing, you can get a partial denture that clasps on your natural teeth for more support.
